So I’ve started creating online videos for tutorials of Oracle 10g and 11g databases.  I’m going to be using oracle 10g and oracle 11g for all installation and special features tutorial.   Before i use to be able to do this via blogs and now thanks to CAStudios.com I am going to start using youtube so that all my readers and viewers can see and hear exactly what i am teaching them.   Just as a brief intro, i have put a brief summary of what CAStudios.com is and what their core business is.

So having said that, I’m planning on creating the following tutorials for my readers.  I hope you can leave me feedback on what you think of the videos and what I can do to improve them.    Following are the topics I will be discussing and teaching:

So  there were quite a few people I talked to recently who’s come across this problem.   Now everyone seems to know that SYSAUX tablespace is mandatory in 10g and going forward.   But here’s one problem that a co-worker of mine came across. 

 Not realizing that the sysaux tablespace neede to be copied over, my co-worker was performing a clone of the database.   He wanted to clone the existing database to another server and rename it.

He copied all of the datafile except for the temp file and the sysaux datafile.   Then he recreated teh controlfile on the remote site and opened it with the resetlogs option.    After he did this he realized that the sysaux tablespace was missing and he was getting the errors in alert log as well as some views.      He didn’t have a recent backup since he copied it from another database etc…

 After reviewing many posts and then finally opening up a TAR with oracle, we realized that the only way to fix this issue is to recreate the database.   Export the database and import it to the new instance.   The only problem is that you can’t even export because it uses the sysaux tablespace.   Well that sucks too man.   So finally we ended up exporting each of the tablespaces indivudually and importing them in to the new instance and trashed the old one.  

 Can you believe that ?
